I kept beating myself up, "why couldn't I just lose the weight, I am such a loser." "You're so fat", these are words that I would continually say to myself and punish myself for being this way. It was an angry and sad point in my life.
Yes, on one hand I needed to take responsibility for where I was, but on the same hand, there is a lot of conflicting information out there about weight loss. To make things even harder, I didn't have time for counting calories, carbs, and/or points.
I was confused and I am guessing you are too. You are also busy, managing your home, your career, your family and trying to keep it all together. You do your best to stay healthy, but it really feels like there is no time to eat right or exercise. Husband works late, or you are a single mom, kids need to go to practice, which falls right in the middle of dinnertime, so fast food is the answer for most nights. You know you need to lose weight, you know the health consequences (diabetes, heart disease, cancer) you face if you don't take this weight off. You know your self esteem is suffering and you don't have the quality friendships that you would like, or aren't living up to your fullest potential because your weight makes you so self conscious.
Does the above sound about right? I completely get it. I was there too, I was (still am) a busy Mom with a teenager in Varsity Soccer which meant practice 5 days a week and the drive was 30 minutes away. My husband works long hours and does the best he can, but he isn't home most nights. I also home-school my children and run a successful business. I tried the lose weight fast programs that include shakes and fake bars and let me tell you yes, I lost weight...but still gained it back and gained chronic pain, Candida Overgrowth, adult acne, insomnia, and a pretty alarming Cancer scare.
Why, because I didn't dig in and get to the root of what was really causing my weight problems. I didn't get a hold of the habits...You know the one where your mind says no, but you do it anyway.

The first step is to choose to eat for health. Stop punishing yourself with empty shakes that don't bring you comfort. We all need comfort, these days of fast times and constantly being on the go, our body craves food as comfort. A powder or fake bar is not going to give your body what it needs and cravings will still be hammering for you to feed them.
Today I choose to share a green smoothie recipe with you. It is fast and easy to make when you are rushed to get out the door. It is full of nutrients your body needs to thrive and keep up with your busy day. I especially love this recipe because it is good for your Liver. A little Science side note; your Liver is the second largest organ in your body and has a HUGE job. Did you know that your body has an average of 700 toxins circulating through it? The Liver is responsible for moving these toxins out. When the Liver gets sluggish you will see things like, difficulty losing weight, acne, brain fog, acne, dull skin, chronic pain, bloating, slow digestive system, fatigue and so many more health difficulties.
Here is the recipe: 1 cup of water, 1 cup coconut water, handful of cilantro, handful of spinach, handful of kale, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, a banana and a cup of mango, you can also sweeten with Stevia if too bitter for you. If still a bit bitter, back off the greens to start, try just use a handful of spinach.
Yes, it may take a bit to get used to drinking a green smoothie in the morning, but if you really want the benefits of vibrant skin, plentiful energy, effortless weight loss, then you need to give your body the nutrients it needs.

I feel your pain, I know the struggle and I have been there. However, I won the battle and feel like the best mom ever (my kids love green vegetables yey)!
